Before We Start

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions buyers usually ask before starting a sourcing project in China.

Some answers depend on the product, order size, destination market or service model. Where a topic needs more detail, we've linked to the relevant page.

Getting Started

Before You Start

What buyers usually want to know before sending the first inquiry.

What kind of sourcing projects can TreySourcing help with?

We mainly help overseas buyers with product sourcing, supplier coordination, purchasing, production follow-up, quality inspection, goods handling, consolidation and shipment coordination in China.

The best fit is usually a real commercial project where you want ongoing China-side support, not just a list of supplier names.

Do I need a complete product specification before contacting you?

No. A product link, photo, sample, rough drawing or clear idea can be enough to start a conversation.

If important details are still missing, we can work through them with you before asking factories for serious quotations.

Can I start with samples or a small trial order?

Yes. For a new product or supplier, samples and trial orders are often the sensible place to start.

Small orders may not receive the same unit pricing as mass production, but testing first can help identify problems before the order gets bigger.

Can you work with suppliers I already have?

Yes. You do not need to use a supplier found by TreySourcing.

If you already have a factory, we can help with supplier communication, samples, purchasing coordination, production follow-up, inspection, receiving, consolidation or shipment support depending on the project.

Sourcing & Production

Suppliers, Orders & Production

How we think about finding factories and keeping an order moving once the work starts.

How do you find and compare suppliers?

We look at more than one quotation. Depending on the product, we may compare supplier capability, product experience, pricing, MOQ, lead time, communication, sample quality and other project-specific factors.

The goal is not simply to find the factory with the lowest number on a spreadsheet.

How do you know whether a supplier is suitable for my product?

There is no single test that proves a supplier is perfect. We look at the information available for the actual project and try to reduce obvious mismatches before the order moves too far.

For higher-risk projects, samples, factory visits, testing or third-party verification may also be appropriate.

What happens after I approve a supplier and quotation?

Once the commercial details are agreed, the next step is to confirm the formal order, payment arrangements, samples or specifications where needed, production timing and supplier follow-up.

The accepted quotation provides the commercial basis for the order. We then keep the project moving through production, inspection, receiving and shipment preparation as required.

What if the factory wants to change a material, component or specification?

Changes can happen during production. What matters is whether a meaningful change is communicated before it is treated as accepted.

If we become aware of a change that materially affects the product, quantity, specification, cost, timing or risk, we bring it back to you before treating it as approved.

Quality & Inspection

Samples, Production & Quality

What happens before mass production, before shipment and when an inspection finds a problem.

Can you arrange samples before a production order?

Yes. Samples can be arranged when they make sense for the project.

Sample costs, tooling, testing or development charges may apply depending on the product and supplier.

Do you inspect goods before shipment?

Yes. A standard Level II inspection using AQL 2.5 is included in both of our main service plans.

Projects that need additional inspection, repeated inspection or 100% inspection can be handled separately.

See Service Plans & Fees →
What happens if an inspection finds a problem?

We report what we find rather than turning a failed or problematic result into an automatic approval.

Depending on the issue, the practical options may include corrective action, rework, sorting, replacement, negotiation or another agreed solution. If the corrective work needs to be verified, a separate reinspection may also be appropriate.

The right response depends on the defect, quantity, timing, cost and how important the issue is to your market.

Payment & Costs

Money, Fees & Payment

How money moves, how we earn, and what payment options may be available.

How does TreySourcing make money?

It depends on the service model. Our earnings come from the service fee or margin disclosed through our quotation and service structure.

We do not accept hidden supplier kickbacks for recommending or steering business to a factory.

A supplier should be recommended because it fits the project, not because it pays us privately.

See Service Plans & Fees →
Can I pay the supplier directly?

Under our Supplier Management model, you may pay the supplier directly or ask TreySourcing to handle supplier payment.

For Full-Service Sourcing, the normal structure is for the client to pay TreySourcing and for us to handle supplier payments.

See How Payment Works →
What payment methods do you accept?

Payment options may include international bank transfer, supported local bank-transfer methods and Alibaba Trade Assurance, depending on the payment and project.

The available method, currency, account details and any related fees are confirmed before payment.

Warehousing & Shipping

Goods Handling & Logistics

Receiving, combining and preparing goods before they leave China.

Can you receive goods from multiple suppliers and consolidate them?

Yes. Goods from different suppliers can be received, held and consolidated before shipment when that makes sense for the order.

This can also make it easier to coordinate carton handling, labeling and shipment preparation in one place.

Can you help with labeling, repacking or shipment preparation?

Yes. Depending on the project, we can support labeling, repacking, carton handling, consolidation and other practical preparation before the goods leave China.

Additional warehouse labor or materials may be charged where applicable.

Can you arrange international shipping?

Yes. We can coordinate international freight and shipment preparation according to the project's destination and shipping requirements. If an order needs more than one shipment, the batches can be coordinated separately so quantities and key shipping references remain clear.

International freight is charged at actual cost without a TreySourcing markup.

I have never imported before. Can you arrange door-to-door delivery?

Yes, for many destinations. We regularly work with buyers who do not have their own customs-clearance or import logistics arrangements.

Depending on the destination, product and shipping method, we can coordinate door-to-door shipping through our freight partners, including customs clearance and duties or taxes where a suitable tax-paid service is available.

Availability depends on the country, product, shipment value and shipping route, so we confirm the shipping method, total freight cost and what is included before the goods are dispatched.

International freight is charged at actual cost without a TreySourcing markup. Customs clearance and destination import services are handled through the relevant freight or customs partners.

Protection & Responsibility

Risk, IP & Professional Boundaries

What we try to control, what we will not hide, and where specialist verification may be needed.

How do you protect my product information and IP?

The right approach depends on the project. Protection may involve controlled information sharing, careful handling of drawings, specifications or other sensitive project files, clear expectations around designs or tooling, written supplier commitments and NNN agreements where appropriate.

NNN is one tool. The bigger goal is controlling how your product, information and business relationships may be used.

Do you take commissions or kickbacks from suppliers?

We do not accept hidden supplier kickbacks for recommending or steering business to a factory.

Our earnings come from the fees or margins disclosed in our quotation and service model. Supplier recommendations should be based on the project, not on undisclosed private payments.

See How We Protect You →
Do you audit factories for labor, safety or social compliance?

Not as a standard claim for every supplier.

If serious labor, worker-safety or related concerns come to our attention, we do not think a low price is a reason to ignore them.

When formal social-compliance verification is required, a qualified third-party audit may be the appropriate solution.

Can you guarantee that my product complies with every law in my market?

No sourcing company should make that blanket promise.

We can help keep identified product, material, testing or market requirements in the sourcing process. But some questions require accredited laboratory testing, certification, legal review or another qualified specialist.

When specialist verification is needed, we would rather help coordinate the right third party than pretend our own opinion is enough.
